Hit or Miss: Bobbi Brown’s Bobbi To Glow Highlighting Trio

This is another product I had purchased on sale from Sephora for $35, original is $70.
The packaging looks amazing! But once in the hand, there’s no weight to it and feels kind of cheap. Also you can really see any fingerprints or  smudges left on the palette.

Feels smooth to the touch, not gritty. The highlighters are quite glittery and the glitter flecks are kinda big, which is why they don’t swatch as smoothly compared to other highlighters.

(Blended out)

But it looks really nice on the skin. I personally really like it. It’s not Bam! in your face but it does give you that glow. It’s closer to a subtle glow. If that’s not your cup of tea then this isn’t for you.

Price wise, it is more expensive than I would have liked. But if you compare to Becca which costs $38 for a 8g product, while this palette costs $35 for 18g and you get 3 different highlighters. It’s not too bad. I do recommend this but not for full price.

***I just checked Sephora (1/1/2018) and they raised the price to $52!! But you do get an additional 20% off (code: SALEONSALE), which makes it around $42 ***

Hit or Miss: Kevyn Aucoin The Neo-Trio Palette

Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a makeup review, I’ve been on a no-buy. But since it’s the holidays I thought I would let myself splurge on a few items. One of the items was this Kevyn Aucoin The Neo-Trio Palette.

25673111_10213820734099747_799002906_o
I had purchased this on sale online at Sephora for $25, original price was $58.  This is my first purchase from the brand Kevyn Aucoin. I’ve never tried any of his products before and was quite excited when I saw this item on sale. A lot of Youtubers have raved about his products, especially his bronzer and contour powder. I thought to myself, hey for only $25 that’s a steal! I have to get it. But unfortunately it wasn’t what I thought it would be.

First, the packaging came in a cheap broken plastic bag. Mine couldn’t even close!

Why include that at all?! The actual palette packaging itself looks decent and is magnetized. But you can’t stack it on top of each other without it being crooked, due to the different polarities of the magnets.

Second, the Neo-setting powder (the white powder) and the limelight (highlighter) are both very powdery. The setting powder has a sparkly over spray, which is gone after one use, and contains small golden glitters within the actual powder. I personally like my setting powders to be completely matte. If anything it’s more of a highlighter than a setting powder. Another thing was these two powders did not work for my skin tone. I have a light-medium skin tone and the white from the powders really shows through even after blending.

What they look like once blended. I’ve used white and lilac highlighters before but these just look weird on my skin.

Third, the Neo-bronzer contains a highlighter, blush, and bronzer.  The highlighter and bronzer part is very small. It will be very hard to just pick up only the bronzer or highlighter without touching the blush. Once blended together it was just an average pink color blush. Nothing special.

Lastly, the first three ingredients in the powders are Talc, Mica, and Dimethicone.  Dimethicone can cause some irritation to the skin and eyes especially after prolong use. If you have sensitive skin you are at a higher risk of having an allergic reaction to it. So you might want to stay away from this if you sensitive skin.

Overall, this palette was miss! I really wanted to like it but it just didn’t work for me. Did you guys pick this up also? What was your opinion on this? Let me know in the comment box down below!

December 2017 Love it, Like it, Or Leave it

Hey!! I’m back with my usual empties blog where I tell you whether I love it, like it, or am leaving it.

Now onto the products:

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Shower Gel
I got this for around $5.99 at TJ Maxx. It lathers up well, a little goes a long way. Has a nice scent, almost like eucalyptus. The scent does linger on your body longer than your average shower gel. Overall I like it!

The Body Shop Moringa Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub
I purchased this in a set with 4 other items for around $15 at TJ Maxx. The scrub is okay, it’s too gentle for me. When I use a scrub I want to be able to feel it! Also this has a strong floral scent. The scent was nice at first but it got overwhelming and tiring rather quickly. After a few uses, I was completely over it. Overall, Leave it!! There are better scrubs out there like Tree Hut’s sugar scrubs!

Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner
$18 at Ulta. I’ve gone through so many of these already. This is my 6th or 8th one! It works great for oily and sensitive skin. It refreshes my skin and remove any dirt or makeup left behind from my cleanser. I absolutely LOVE this toner!

Murad Acne Clearing Solution
For a full size, it’s $42 at Sephora & Ulta.
This is another product I love. I actually see results overnight! If have a pimple, I put this on and BAM! the next day it’s practically half its size! This is a miracle worker for me.

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths in Brightening
$8 at Sephora for 10 cloths. Has a nice citrus scent, almost like orangesicle. The wipes are tiny in size, thin, and not the softest. It didn’t do a good job at removing my makeup. I had to go in with two cloths and makeup remover just to remove my everyday makeup. These wipes are a complete FAIL!

H2O+ Black Sand Body Scrub
(Discontinued)
This was another okay product. It’s better than the Body Shop Moringa Body scrub but nothing special. Just your average body scrub. I’ll say leave it.

H2O+ Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator
The packaging I have for this is the old one. H2O+ recently revamped their packaging. I prefer their old packaging, I though it looked classier while the new packaging looks very simple and cheap. But hey, that’s just me. This product is currently sold for a whopping $42! I bought mine at Ross for $9. It’s a fantastic moisturizer. I saw a difference in my skin after only a few days of continuous use. My skin has become more hydrated and softer. I love it!

Aug & Sept 2017 Love, Like, or Leave it

I usually do empties hit and misses but unfortunately for the month of August and  September I’ve been traveling so I was only able to finish a couple of products. Therefore I’m doing a regular hit and misses of products I had used throughout August and September. Let’s get started…

-$3.99
-60 wipes
-Has an amazing strawberry milk scent! Reminds me of my childhood
-The towelettes are thick and soft
-Does a good job of removing my eyeliner and face makeup but struggles with mascara

H2O Marine Defense Anti-aging Green Tea Face Complex
-Original price is around $38-42
-$8.99 at Ross
-Sadly this product is discontinued
-Does an incredible job at hydrating my skin, I noticed an improvement after just one use

TonyMoly Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-in Scrub
-$17.50
-First let’s take a moment to appreciate the cute packaging! It’s shaped like a coffee mug! They even have a small spatula
-There’s a subtle scent of coffee
-The scrub is gentle enough for everyday use
-It’s a nice product but it didn’t do anything for my skin and it’s not worth the high price tag, overall I’ll say Leave it

20170909_141649
Gotta B’ Urban Makeup Setting Spray
-$5.99
-the packaging was very deceiving, I honestly thought the bottle was going to be bigger
– It did leave my skin dewy but didn’t control my oil or prolong my makeup wear time, which is the whole reason I buy makeup setting spray for
-Overall I say Leave it20170909_141725
NYX HD Finishing Powder ($6.99 – $10) & Sephora Microsmooth Baked Powder ($22)
-Finely milled
-Light weight
-Gives you a smooth airbrushed finish

Revlon Butter Lipstick
-Regrettably they’re Discontinued
-Goes on smooth
-Moisturize your lips
-Has a tint of color
-Light weight
-One of my favorite lipstick!

20170909_14180820170909_141842
YSL Baby Doll Mascara & Buxom Full and Fabulous Mascara
-Both are supposed to voluminous mascaras, unfortunately they barely gave any length or volume
-I would recommend using a lash primer with these or in conjunction with another mascara
-Overall Leave these mascaras, even drugstore mascaras are better!
