January 2018 Hit and Misses

It’s that time of the month again where I go over what I have been loving and not so loving last month. Let’s start off with what I have been loving…
Alterna Caviar Re-texturizing Protein Cream — This is the best leave in product I have ever tried for my hair! This protein cream help restructure your hair strands by filling in gaps and tears. Making your hair smoother and healthier and I totally agree. My hair have never felt so soft and light weight before. I highly recommend this!!

Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil — I’ve never been an facial oil person until now. This oil have even out my skin tone and made my skin significantly brighter! I can’t get enough of this oil.

Lorac Pro + Fiber Mascara — I don’t know why no one have talked about this mascara. This makes my lashes so long and thick that it looks almost like falsies!! I personally didn’t have any flaking but my only gripe is that it can smudge a bit. If you have watery eyes this is not for you. Still, I will be purchasing the full size but maybe in the waterproof version if they have it.

Romantic Bear WOW! Long Lasting Lip Color in Sexy Red
— This is a lip stain. It’s not the easiest to apply evenly but I love how long the stain last without drying out my lips. Also these are relatively cheap, about $1 per tube.

Okay, now for the misses for the month of January.

Cherimoa Return II Skin Mud Sheet Mask —  I’ve tried this mask twice and both times it broke me out. If you have sensitive or acne prone skin, stay away form this mask!

Naisture Charcoal 3 Step Pore Strips — Did absolutely nothing for me!! It didn’t even remove one blackhead, NOT ONE!! The Creme Strawberry Pore Kit is even better than this! This was a complete waste of money.

Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask — I really wanted this mask to work but it was a complete fail. The mask itself wouldn’t come out of the foil packaging, I had to completely cut open the packaging and try to scrape out what I could. The mud/clay mask had separated from the oil which made the mud quite hard to scrape out so I barely got any. Don’t waste your money on this.

Precision Beauty Facial Brush — I bought this from either Ross or Marshall for $4-$5. Which is quite cheap compared to other brands. But there’s a reason why it’s cheap, the bristle is hard and rough on the skin. The bristle also trap water really well therefore it takes a while to dry. I wouldn’t even purchase this for $1. It was an awful brush.

Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Oil — I couldn’t even finish this hair oil. The scent was too overwhelming that it made me nauseated. Also the oil didn’t do much for my hair besides adding some shine.

Clinque Even Better Foundation — This foundation did not work well with my combo skin. I’m usually quite oily with the exception of a few spots being dry, like my forehead and sometimes my nose. The foundation breaks apart after only a few hours. Also the foundation transfer like crazy! I just couldn’t get the foundation to set onto my skin. I’ve tried different primers, powders, and setting sprays. Nothing works with this foundation.

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara — This mascara got great reviews on Sephora but I don’t see what’s so great about it. It barely add any length or volume and it smudges! Even drugstore mascaras are better!

December 2017 Love it, Like it, Or Leave it

Hey!! I’m back with my usual empties blog where I tell you whether I love it, like it, or am leaving it.

Now onto the products:

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Shower Gel
I got this for around $5.99 at TJ Maxx. It lathers up well, a little goes a long way. Has a nice scent, almost like eucalyptus. The scent does linger on your body longer than your average shower gel. Overall I like it!

The Body Shop Moringa Exfoliating Cream Body Scrub
I purchased this in a set with 4 other items for around $15 at TJ Maxx. The scrub is okay, it’s too gentle for me. When I use a scrub I want to be able to feel it! Also this has a strong floral scent. The scent was nice at first but it got overwhelming and tiring rather quickly. After a few uses, I was completely over it. Overall, Leave it!! There are better scrubs out there like Tree Hut’s sugar scrubs!

Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner
$18 at Ulta. I’ve gone through so many of these already. This is my 6th or 8th one! It works great for oily and sensitive skin. It refreshes my skin and remove any dirt or makeup left behind from my cleanser. I absolutely LOVE this toner!

Murad Acne Clearing Solution
For a full size, it’s $42 at Sephora & Ulta.
This is another product I love. I actually see results overnight! If have a pimple, I put this on and BAM! the next day it’s practically half its size! This is a miracle worker for me.

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths in Brightening
$8 at Sephora for 10 cloths. Has a nice citrus scent, almost like orangesicle. The wipes are tiny in size, thin, and not the softest. It didn’t do a good job at removing my makeup. I had to go in with two cloths and makeup remover just to remove my everyday makeup. These wipes are a complete FAIL!

H2O+ Black Sand Body Scrub
This was another okay product. It’s better than the Body Shop Moringa Body scrub but nothing special. Just your average body scrub. I’ll say leave it.

H2O+ Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator
The packaging I have for this is the old one. H2O+ recently revamped their packaging. I prefer their old packaging, I though it looked classier while the new packaging looks very simple and cheap. But hey, that’s just me. This product is currently sold for a whopping $42! I bought mine at Ross for $9. It’s a fantastic moisturizer. I saw a difference in my skin after only a few days of continuous use. My skin has become more hydrated and softer. I love it!

October 2017 Empties

For the month of October I mainly focused on my skincare and body care items since I have a bunch I still need to get through and those takes a while to use up.
Once again I know my empties blog is late, I’m sorry. I usually write my blogs on the weekends but there were so many birthday parties back to back, I just didn’t have the time. But good news, my Sephora Play! box for November is coming in on Wed. Hopefully I will have a blog on it by Thurs for you guys. So stay tuned for that.

Now onto the blog…

Michael Todd Organic Lemon AHA + DMAE Toner
$19.00 at Ulta (online only)
-One of my favorite toner.
-Feels great on the skin.
-Has a lemon scent .
-I used this twice a day and it doesn’t dry out my skin.
-Does a great job of removing any residual makeup that your makeup wipes or cleansers didn’t remove.

20171029_144657Murad Skin Smoothing Polish
$32 at Ulta for a Full size 3.5oz
-This is their old packaging, they recently redid their packaging within the last year or so
-Has some micro-polishing beads
-Not for everyday use, I would recommend only using this 2-3 times a week.
-Can be drying with excessive use
-It didn’t do anything for my blackheads but my skin was significantly smoother.
-I really enjoyed it, also it’s a cheaper alternative to the Bliss Micro Magic Microdermabrasion

BRTC Green Tea Stem Cell Mask
– Originally $9.99 at Marshalls, but I got mine on sale for $8
-Box comes with 5 Sheets
-It’s geared for those with inflamed skin.
-Has a decent refreshing scent, but I wouldn’t say it’s green tea.
-The first time I tried this I massaged the left over serum onto my skin and it broke me out. It wasn’t too bad, just a few around my T-zone area.
-I did find a way to use the mask without causing any breakout. What I had to do was wipe my skin with toner to remove any lingering serum after each use.
-Didn’t do anything for my inflamed skin.
-It’s just an okay mask, there’s plenty of better sheet masks out there.

20171029_144859Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser
-$45 for a Full size 4.2 oz/125 mL at Sephora
-I got this deluxe sample size in one of my Sephora Play! box
-Has an awful scent, like a mixture of  wood and paint.
-Has a liquidy consistency
-Didn’t see a difference in my skin
– Honestly the scent was too overwhelming for me. I had to force myself to finish this cleanser.

The Body Shop Strawberry Brightening Body Polish
$10 on The Body Shop website
-Smells exactly like strawberry jam
-Has some black seed looking exfoliaters
-It’s good for those who wants something very genlte
-Personally I like something harsher, I want to be able to feel the exfoliation
-Also it’s quite pricey for only a 2.5 fl oz. I finished this within 3 weeks.

VitaBath Cucumber & White Tea20171029_144852.jpg

$7.99 for a Full size 12oz /360 mL at Ulta
-Very affordable
-Has a nice light scent
-Lathers up nicely
-Not harsh on the skin
-Overall a decent  body wash

20171029_144818John Frieda Collection Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock
-It’s a leave on glosser
-Has the same particular smell that all John Frieda products have
-Has chunks of glitter in the gel, I don’t understand why it doesn’t do anything
-It can be applied on wet or dry hair
-Personally I think it’s best on wet hair, when applied to dry hair it makes it greasy and dirty feeling
-Feels heavy once applied
-One of the worst product I’ve ever tried
-I didn’t see any results, no shine whatsoever
-If you want shine, try some type of oil instead like Sexy Hair Soy Renewal with Argan oil or OGX Moroccan Argan oil

Aug & Sept 2017 Love, Like, or Leave it

I usually do empties hit and misses but unfortunately for the month of August and  September I’ve been traveling so I was only able to finish a couple of products. Therefore I’m doing a regular hit and misses of products I had used throughout August and September. Let’s get started…

The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel
– Lather up nicely
-Has a strong floral scent
-It’s nice but for me the scent was too overwhelming, overall I’ll leave it

Cherry Chree Strawberry Cleansing Towelettes
-60 wipes
-Has an amazing strawberry milk scent! Reminds me of my childhood
-The towelettes are thick and soft
-Does a good job of removing my eyeliner and face makeup but struggles with mascara
-I really like this product, if you drank strawberry milk as a kid you will enjoy this.

H2O Marine Defense Anti-aging Green Tea Face Complex
-Original price is around $38-42
-$8.99 at Ross
-Sadly this product is discontinued
-Does an incredible job at hydrating my skin, I noticed an improvement after just one use
-I like this product but I can’t use it everyday since it breaks me out. I can only use it once or twice a week. If you have dry skin, give H2O products a try.

TonyMoly Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-in Scrub
-First let’s take a moment to appreciate the cute packaging! It’s shaped like a coffee mug! They even have a small spatula
-There’s a subtle scent of coffee
-The scrub is gentle enough for everyday use
-It’s a nice product but it didn’t do anything for my skin and it’s not worth the high price tag, overall I’ll say Leave it

Gotta B’ Urban Makeup Setting Spray
-the packaging was very deceiving, I honestly thought the bottle was going to be bigger
– It did leave my skin dewy but didn’t control my oil or prolong my makeup wear time, which is the whole reason I buy makeup setting spray for
-Overall I say Leave it20170909_141725
NYX HD Finishing Powder ($6.99 – $10) & Sephora Microsmooth Baked Powder ($22)
-Finely milled
-Light weight
-Gives you a smooth airbrushed finish
-Last all day
-I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these powders!  I highly recommend these if you haven’t tried them.

Revlon Butter Lipstick
-Regrettably they’re Discontinued
-Goes on smooth
-Moisturize your lips
-Has a tint of color
-Light weight
-One of my favorite lipstick!

YSL Baby Doll Mascara & Buxom Full and Fabulous Mascara
-Both are supposed to voluminous mascaras, unfortunately they barely gave any length or volume
-I would recommend using a lash primer with these or in conjunction with another mascara
-Overall Leave these mascaras, even drugstore mascaras are better!
