October 2017 Empties

For the month of October I mainly focused on my skincare and body care items since I have a bunch I still need to get through and those takes a while to use up.
Once again I know my empties blog is late, I’m sorry. I usually write my blogs on the weekends but there were so many birthday parties back to back, I just didn’t have the time. But good news, my Sephora Play! box for November is coming in on Wed. Hopefully I will have a blog on it by Thurs for you guys. So stay tuned for that.

Now onto the blog…

Michael Todd Organic Lemon AHA + DMAE Toner
$19.00 at Ulta (online only)
-One of my favorite toner.
-Feels great on the skin.
-Has a lemon scent .
-I used this twice a day and it doesn’t dry out my skin.
-Does a great job of removing any residual makeup that your makeup wipes or cleansers didn’t remove.

20171029_144657Murad Skin Smoothing Polish
$32 at Ulta for a Full size 3.5oz
-This is their old packaging, they recently redid their packaging within the last year or so
-Has some micro-polishing beads
-Not for everyday use, I would recommend only using this 2-3 times a week.
-Can be drying with excessive use
-It didn’t do anything for my blackheads but my skin was significantly smoother.
-I really enjoyed it, also it’s a cheaper alternative to the Bliss Micro Magic Microdermabrasion

BRTC Green Tea Stem Cell Mask
– Originally $9.99 at Marshalls, but I got mine on sale for $8
-Box comes with 5 Sheets
-It’s geared for those with inflamed skin.
-Has a decent refreshing scent, but I wouldn’t say it’s green tea.
-The first time I tried this I massaged the left over serum onto my skin and it broke me out. It wasn’t too bad, just a few around my T-zone area.
-I did find a way to use the mask without causing any breakout. What I had to do was wipe my skin with toner to remove any lingering serum after each use.
-Didn’t do anything for my inflamed skin.
-It’s just an okay mask, there’s plenty of better sheet masks out there.

20171029_144859Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser
-$45 for a Full size 4.2 oz/125 mL at Sephora
-I got this deluxe sample size in one of my Sephora Play! box
-Has an awful scent, like a mixture of  wood and paint.
-Has a liquidy consistency
-Didn’t see a difference in my skin
– Honestly the scent was too overwhelming for me. I had to force myself to finish this cleanser.

The Body Shop Strawberry Brightening Body Polish
$10 on The Body Shop website
-Smells exactly like strawberry jam
-Has some black seed looking exfoliaters
-It’s good for those who wants something very genlte
-Personally I like something harsher, I want to be able to feel the exfoliation
-Also it’s quite pricey for only a 2.5 fl oz. I finished this within 3 weeks.

VitaBath Cucumber & White Tea20171029_144852.jpg

$7.99 for a Full size 12oz /360 mL at Ulta
-Very affordable
-Has a nice light scent
-Lathers up nicely
-Not harsh on the skin
-Overall a decent  body wash

20171029_144818John Frieda Collection Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock
-It’s a leave on glosser
-Has the same particular smell that all John Frieda products have
-Has chunks of glitter in the gel, I don’t understand why it doesn’t do anything
-It can be applied on wet or dry hair
-Personally I think it’s best on wet hair, when applied to dry hair it makes it greasy and dirty feeling
-Feels heavy once applied
-One of the worst product I’ve ever tried
-I didn’t see any results, no shine whatsoever
-If you want shine, try some type of oil instead like Sexy Hair Soy Renewal with Argan oil or OGX Moroccan Argan oil

Aug & Sept 2017 Love, Like, or Leave it

I usually do empties hit and misses but unfortunately for the month of August and  September I’ve been traveling so I was only able to finish a couple of products. Therefore I’m doing a regular hit and misses of products I had used throughout August and September. Let’s get started…

The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel
– Lather up nicely
-Has a strong floral scent
-It’s nice but for me the scent was too overwhelming, overall I’ll leave it

Cherry Chree Strawberry Cleansing Towelettes
-60 wipes
-Has an amazing strawberry milk scent! Reminds me of my childhood
-The towelettes are thick and soft
-Does a good job of removing my eyeliner and face makeup but struggles with mascara
-I really like this product, if you drank strawberry milk as a kid you will enjoy this.

H2O Marine Defense Anti-aging Green Tea Face Complex
-Original price is around $38-42
-$8.99 at Ross
-Sadly this product is discontinued
-Does an incredible job at hydrating my skin, I noticed an improvement after just one use
-I like this product but I can’t use it everyday since it breaks me out. I can only use it once or twice a week. If you have dry skin, give H2O products a try.

TonyMoly Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-in Scrub
-First let’s take a moment to appreciate the cute packaging! It’s shaped like a coffee mug! They even have a small spatula
-There’s a subtle scent of coffee
-The scrub is gentle enough for everyday use
-It’s a nice product but it didn’t do anything for my skin and it’s not worth the high price tag, overall I’ll say Leave it

Gotta B’ Urban Makeup Setting Spray
-the packaging was very deceiving, I honestly thought the bottle was going to be bigger
– It did leave my skin dewy but didn’t control my oil or prolong my makeup wear time, which is the whole reason I buy makeup setting spray for
-Overall I say Leave it20170909_141725
NYX HD Finishing Powder ($6.99 – $10) & Sephora Microsmooth Baked Powder ($22)
-Finely milled
-Light weight
-Gives you a smooth airbrushed finish
-Last all day
-I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these powders!  I highly recommend these if you haven’t tried them.

Revlon Butter Lipstick
-Regrettably they’re Discontinued
-Goes on smooth
-Moisturize your lips
-Has a tint of color
-Light weight
-One of my favorite lipstick!

YSL Baby Doll Mascara & Buxom Full and Fabulous Mascara
-Both are supposed to voluminous mascaras, unfortunately they barely gave any length or volume
-I would recommend using a lash primer with these or in conjunction with another mascara
-Overall Leave these mascaras, even drugstore mascaras are better!

July 2017 Empties Love it, Like it, or Leave it

I wasn’t able to finish too many items last month since I barely wore any makeup. But I was able finish quite a few skincare products, unfortunately  I’m saving  a bunch of those for my upcoming blogs. Definitely keep an eye out for those. Now onto the empties!

Cargo Blu_Ray Activating Face Primer

-$32 @ Ulta
-One of the worst primer I have tried
-Barely smooth out my skin
-I was still able to see my pores
-Leaves a slight tacky feel
-Doesn’t help my makeup last any longer, if anything it shorten it. My makeup just slides off my face
-Overall: LEAVE IT!

Clinique High Impact Mascara & Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant Mascara

-Clinique High Impact $18 for full Size
-MUFE Smoky Extravagant $12 for deluxe size and $24 for full size
-I like to use these two mascaras together for remarkably long and voluminous lashes. Each mascara is great on their own but together they are just amazing!
-Overall: LOVE them both

No7 Boots Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion Exfoliator

-$18 @ Target
-Makes my skin smoother and more radiant
-I wouldn’t say I look younger like it claims but fresher
-I use this 2-3 times a week and it didn’t dry out my skin
-Overall: I Like it. It works great and it’s an affordable alternative to the Bliss Micro Magic Microdermabrasion Treatment, $48 @ Ulta and Sephora.

Murad Clarifying Toner

-$24 at Ulta
-Great for those with acne
-It kept my acne at bay
-It eliminates oil and tighten pores
-I used this 2 -3 times a day and it doesn’t dry out my skin
-Overall: I like this toner, this was actually my second bottle. For those with acne prone skin or really oily skin, definitely try it out.

Tony Moly Natural Green Moisture Foam Cleanser with Shea Butter

– ~$20 for two @ Ulta
-Lathers up nicely
-Easy to wash off
-Has a nice scent
-Didn’t see any difference in my skin
-Overall: LEAVE IT! It didn’t help moisturize any of my dry patches. Also I didn’t like how it left my skin feeling rigid. There are way better cleansers out there for a better price.

First Aid Beauty Skin rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay

-$12 for deluxe size and $24 for a full size @ Sephora
-Has a fresh/invigorating scent
-Help remove excess oil
-The deluxe size lasted about 2-3 weeks of use
-Overall: I Like it. It does a great job cleaning my skin. Also it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I’m planning to purchase the full size whenever I finish all of my other cleanser.

February 2017 Empties: Love it, Like it, or Leave it!

Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer

-I got this from Ulta last year as a free gift when I spent a certain amount online.
-I can’t find the exact price for this but it was pretty pricey
-The packaging looks nice but not very sanitary, I would have preferred a squeeze tube
-Goes on very smooth, smoother than Benefits Porefessional primer
-A little goes a long way
-It does a great job filling in my pores and helping my foundation last all day
-One jar will last you a long time (took me around 6 months or more to finish it)
-Overall: I really do like this primer. It’s very similar to Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer.

20170224_180711_001.jpgUrban Decay Ink For Eyes waterproof precision eye pen

-$20 on the Urban Decay website
-Contains 0.02 fl oz
-Sponge tip applicator
– The tip is small, great for more precise lines
-Rub proof when dried but not quite when wet, stay away from this if you have watery eyes
-Dried out rather quickly, usually a liner can last me 3-6 months but this one only lasted me about 1-2 months
-Overall: Leave it! Don’t waste your money on this, it dries out too quickly.

Agave Oil Treatment

-The picture shows the sample size, containing 0.1oz each (I had 4 of these and I made sure to used them all up back to back before doing this review)
-$24 for a 2 fl oz  on Amazon
– Smells great
– Works wonders, I saw a difference just after one use
-Mades my hair smooth, soft, and shiny
-I use this 2-3 times a week
-Overall: I love this hair oil! I will be purchasing the full size once I finish up all of my other hair oils.

Murad Clarifying Cleanser

-$30 for a 6.75oz at Ulta
-Contains 1.5% Salicylic Acid
-It doesn’t have a harsh chemical scent
-Keeps my acne at bay
-Doesn’t dry out my skin
-Overall: This is my go to face cleanser. No matter how many cleansers I’ve tried, I always go back to this one and the Mario Badescu one. It’s pricey but it’s worth it.

Freeman Facial Polishing Mask Charcoal & Black Sugar

-$4 at Ulta
-Smells great
-The first few times I tried this I couldn’t get it to work. It didn’t apply evenly, it was all clumpy and mess to deal with. Also it wouldn’t stay on the skin, it would just drip off.
-In order to make it work, I had to use it in the shower. It applied at lot easier and more evenly.
-I really like the exfoliating aspect of the mask. The sugar isn’t too harsh, it simply melts away while you scrub.
-Overall: I do like the mask and it’s a great value. But for me personally, I rather have a mask that I can use outside of the shower.

Skin Food Peach Sake Toner

-$15 at Ulta
-Claims: Eliminates shine and excessive sebum
-The bottle is super cute, it resembles a glass sake bottle. It feels very luxurious.
– Smells exactly like peach
-Works great, my skin was less oily and my pores seems smaller
-But the toner was a little drying. I got a few dry patches in my T-zone area from using it too much.
Overall: I would definitely repurchase but only use it during the summer when my skin isn’t as dry.

Dermalogica Clean Start- Black Head Clearing Pore Scrub

-Has a chemical scent
-Has the same consistency and look as the Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser except with fine microbeads/scrubs. Also this cleanser isn’t as harsh as the clay cleanser
-Skin feels smooth after each use
Overall: Leave it. It wasn’t anything spectacular.
