It’s that time of the month again! I finally got my Sephora Play! box and I’m happy to say this box does not disappoint. They are all new products to me except the Makeup Forever Ultra foundation, which I honestly don’t mind getting.
First up is the Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer.
From testing it on the back of my hand I can tell that the primer has a thicker and heavier consistency than most. It doesn’t have that light silicone feeling but rather a thick cream. Once blended onto the skin it does smooth everything out and blurs imperfections.
Second is Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation
I’ve talked a lot about this foundation in the past, it’s one of my favorite foundation of all time! It’s a light to medium coverage, lightweight, easy to blend, stay on all day, and looks great in photos!
Third is the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist
Haven’t heard too much about this setting spray, but still excited to give this a try.
Fourth is the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Skin Booster I honestly didn’t even know Makeup Forever did skin care. Hopefully it’s just as good as their makeup line.
Fifth is Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Scrub
I’m super ecstatic about this product. I’ve been wanting to try this for the longest time. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this.
The Sixth and last product is Tory Burch Bel Azur perfume
It’s not a bad scent but it’s not what I normally go for. Also it’s more of a spring/summer scent. Not very suiting for fall.
And this is what the other side of the pamphlet looks like:
I did look up to see what everyone else got. We all got a primer, foundation, and some sort setting spray or powder. If you’re interested in seeing what other people got, check out mysubscriptionaddiction.com
I usually do empties hit and misses but unfortunately for the month of August and September I’ve been traveling so I was only able to finish a couple of products. Therefore I’m doing a regular hit and misses of products I had used throughout August and September. Let’s get started…
The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel
– Lather up nicely
-Has a strong floral scent
-It’s nice but for me the scent was too overwhelming, overall I’ll leave it
Cherry Chree Strawberry Cleansing Towelettes
-Has an amazing strawberry milk scent! Reminds me of my childhood
-The towelettes are thick and soft
-Does a good job of removing my eyeliner and face makeup but struggles with mascara
-I really like this product, if you drank strawberry milk as a kid you will enjoy this.
H2O Marine Defense Anti-aging Green Tea Face Complex
-Original price is around $38-42
-$8.99 at Ross
-Sadly this product is discontinued
-Does an incredible job at hydrating my skin, I noticed an improvement after just one use
-I like this product but I can’t use it everyday since it breaks me out. I can only use it once or twice a week. If you have dry skin, give H2O products a try.
TonyMoly Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-in Scrub
-First let’s take a moment to appreciate the cute packaging! It’s shaped like a coffee mug! They even have a small spatula
-There’s a subtle scent of coffee
-The scrub is gentle enough for everyday use
-It’s a nice product but it didn’t do anything for my skin and it’s not worth the high price tag, overall I’ll say Leave it
Gotta B’ Urban Makeup Setting Spray
-the packaging was very deceiving, I honestly thought the bottle was going to be bigger
– It did leave my skin dewy but didn’t control my oil or prolong my makeup wear time, which is the whole reason I buy makeup setting spray for
-Overall I say Leave it NYX HD Finishing Powder ($6.99 – $10) & Sephora Microsmooth Baked Powder ($22)
-Gives you a smooth airbrushed finish
-Last all day -I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these powders! I highly recommend these if you haven’t tried them.
Revlon Butter Lipstick
-Regrettably they’re Discontinued
-Goes on smooth
-Moisturize your lips
-Has a tint of color
-One of my favorite lipstick!
YSL Baby Doll Mascara & Buxom Full and Fabulous Mascara
-Both are supposed to voluminous mascaras, unfortunately they barely gave any length or volume
-I would recommend using a lash primer with these or in conjunction with another mascara
-Overall Leave these mascaras, even drugstore mascaras are better!
The Creme Shop is a Korean brand that produces affordable makeup tools, lashes, and skincare products. They can be found at Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or on their actual website: http://www.thecremeshop.com . (Not sponsored by the way). I only bought a few items since I just wanted to get a feel for them first. I did try their Strawberry 3 Step Nose Strips but I’ll save that for a later blog comparing it to the Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead 3 Step Kit.
Now onto the review!
Pink Lemonade Cleansing Towelettes -$2.99
-Comes with 60 thin wipes
-Contains Vitamin C
-It doesn’t have the lemonade scent
-Instead it has an alcohol and cleaning scent like Lysol
-Claims to remove dirt, oil, and makeup
-It does remove my face makeup fine, but struggles with eyeliner and mascara
-I have to go back in with a makeup remover
Not the best makeup wipes, I rather pay an extra dollar or two to get better quality wipes.
Neroli Oil Infused Cleansing Towelettes
-Contains 60 thick and soft wipes
-Claims: Gently purifies skin of dirt, oils, and makeup while refreshes and moisturize the skin
-I actually agree with the claims! This is one of the best cleansing towelettes I have used! It removes ALL of my makeup easily, including mascara and eyeliner
-Has a refreshing scent, slightly citrus and floral
I highly recommend these!
Neroli Oil Infused Face Mask
-Includes 5 sheet masks
-claims: the neroli oil will promotes radiant skin, improves circulation, reduces the look of scars, and evens out skin tone
-Has a fresh citrus and floral scent, stronger than the cleansing towelettes
-The mask is smaller than most, length and width wise
-The serum/gel is also thicker
-Leave on for 10-15 mins or until dry
-Has a sticky residue
I’m not a big fan of how it leaves my face feeling sticky. Also I didn’t see any improvements in skin.
The OMG Brush
-Bristles are dome shaped
-Very soft and dense
-Multi use brush (I personally tried it out as a foundation brush)
-It claims to seamlessly blend foundations and powder without streaks or patchiness
-Unfortunately the claims are false! It created so many streaks and kept moving my foundation around. I had to go back in with a makeup sponge to even everything out.
This item was a huge disappointment.
Overall: I would repurchase from this brand again but only their makeup wipes. Have you guys tried this brand before? If so, what did you like or would recommend? Definitely let me know!
I had really high hopes for this month’s box. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment. I had received two of the items before: the Aqua Bomb and the Sephora Pencil Liner. But on the bright side the value of this box is worth over $10! The Benefit Gimme Brow Gel mini size alone is already worth $24. In addition, I got shampoo and conditioner samples instead of a perfume.
I haven’t been a big fan of Bumble and Bumble products, they tend to weigh my hair down. But I’m willing to give this a try.
Full Size: $32
Full size: 25mL is $22
I’ve only tried this once, I gave the last one to my sister since she goes through moisturizers quite fast. It seems to be a decent moisturizer.
Benefit Gimme Brow
It’s natural looking and your brows doesn’t feel crunchy from the gel. But there’s not much product in the tube.
Seohora Eye Pencil 12-hr wear
Full Size 0.04 oz – $10
I don’t use pencil liners so I will be passing this along to someone else.
