Review: High End Mascaras Part II

Still on the hunt for the perfect mascara? Hopefully this review will help you out.  If you’ve read my other review, then you’ll know I like a mascara that gives a lot of volume and length. Please remember just because a mascara didn’t work out for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.
** I’ve placed a little heart (💜 ) next to my top mascara **

1. Blinc Mascara
-$26 Full Size @ Sephora
-Claims: This mascara adds volume and length, to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day.
-Thin wet formulation
-Decent volume and length
-You can build up the volume with a second or third coat
-Very little to no clumping
-Easy to take off, but a little messy (comes off in little bits and pieces)
-Overall: It does what it says and gives you a very natural look.

2.Buxom Mascara
-$20 Full size @ Sephora & Ulta
-Claims:Intensely volumizing mascara that separates and defines.
-The wand has lots of tiny little bristles, making it easier to coat every lash
-Thin & light weight formulation
-Takes a lot of work building this mascara up
-Little volume or length
-Doesn’t clump
-Lashes looks more fluffy/plushy
-Easy to take off
-Overall: Gives a  natural look

3. Joise Maran Black Oil Mascara
-Claims:A mascara that nourishes, lengthens, voluminzes, lifts, and curls lashes for 24 hours.
-Mediocre length and volume
-Bottle dries out really fast
-Overall: It was a disappointing mascara.

4. Kat Von D Immortal Lash Mascara
-Claims: A mascaras that lengthens, curls, and coats every lash for a high-drama look.
-Lightweight formulation
-Good length and decent volume
-Doesn’t clump
-Overall: It’s an okay mascara.

5. Lorac Cobra Mascara 💜
-Currently Sold out on the Lorac
-Claims: It does it all: it a curling, lengthening, and volumizing mascara with keratin, panthenol, and vitamin E.
-Great volume and length
-I don’t know about the curling part of the claim. I have pretty straight lashes and no matter what mascara I used they just fall flat by the end of the day
-Dries up fast
-Overall: I really like this mascara. It’s even on my list of items to repurchase.

6. Nars Audacious Mascara
-Claims:All in one mascara with lash-catching brush that separates, lengthens, and amplifies.
-I felt like that mascara did nothing for me
-Overall: I was greatly disappointed with this mascara. For the price, I thought it would have performed better. Even drugstore mascaras are better than this.

7. Sephora Outrageous Curl Mascara
-Claims:Gives dramatic volume and curve
-The wand is very short with small bristles
-Thick/heavy Formulation
-Little clumping
-Good amount of volume
-Overall: It’s not a bad mascara. It doesn’t give outrageous curls or volume but I don’t mind using it. My only complaint is how heavy the formulation is.

8. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara 💜
-Claims: Ulta-creamy, lengthening, volumizing formula coats each lash with triple-black pigments- for bigger, blacker, and badder lashes.
-Light weight formulation
-Great volume and length
-Little to no clumping
-Overall: I really like this mascara. This is my go to for everyday.

Jan 2017 Empties: Love it, Like it, or Leave it

Bio Miracle Makeup Cleansing Towelettes
– 60 Towelettes
-$5 (at Ross)
– Does a good job removing my face makeup but struggles removing my eyeliner and mascara
-It has a weird scent
-Overall: I like it, it’s cheap and does a good removing my face makeup and it doesn’t irritates my sensitive skin. Also it contains 60 towelettes for only $5 compare to other brands where you would only get 25-30 towelettes.

Mac Fix+

-I don’t know what is exactly in this thing but  it works amazingly
-Keeps my makeup from looking cakey
-Helps my makeup last longer
-Overall: I Love this product, the only thing I don’t like is the packaging. It doesn’t spray the product evenly. But it’s a problem that can be easily fix if you just transfer the product into another bottle like the Urban Decay’s All Nighter Spray bottle.

Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner

– $18 for an 8oz bottle at Ulta
– Contains 2% Glycolic Acid
-Alcohol free
-Claims: A solution for wrinkles and pigmentation. Helps exfoliate, refresh, and stimulate dry congested skin.
-It works great for my sensitive skin, it didn’t irritate it in any way (unlike the Alpha Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion)
-I did see little improvements on my acne scars, it’s not as dark
-Overall: I really do like this toner, it’s not harsh and it does what it says. Definitely grab yourself a bottle but wait until they have a sale at Ulta.

Garnier Fructis Style Flat Iron Perfector

-About $4 at Walmart for a 6oz bottle
-Has a really strong alcohol scent, can be very overwhelming
-I honestly don’t see much of a difference when using it
-It took me forever to use this up, and not in a good way
-Overall: Definitely leave it! I hated this product. There’s nothing great about it.
I’m still on the hunt for a better heat protectant spray. If you guys have any suggestions please let me know.

Biore Charcoal Pore Strips

– About $6 at Walmart
– I’ve done a whole review on this in one of my other blogs, Worth it? Charcoal Skin care products, you can check it out on there if you want more details about this product
-Overall: I absolutely love it! It’s my go to pore strips. I’ve tried other charcoal pore strips from Ross and Burlington Coat Factory and nothing can compare. Just pay a few more dollars to get a better quality pore strips.

Stila Lip Glaze in Mango Berry

20160530_180037-I got this in a set with an eyeshadow palette I believe
– It taste really sweet (for those who likes to lick their lips a lot like me)
– It’s a little tacky, which helps it last longer through out the day
-Overall: I like it but I don’t love it. It looks great on the lips but I’m not a big fan of the tacky feeling.

Lorac Cobra Mascara

20160530_180047-About $10 at Sephora
-Gives great volume and some length
-It doesn’t clump up
– Easy to apply
-Overall: I really like it. If I didn’t have my favorites on hand this would be my next go-to mascara.

L’occitane Hand Cream
20160530_180114– I got this in one of my Sephora Subscription box
-I had extremely dry skin during the winter and this did nothing
– I felt like I had to constantly reapply
-This tiny little tube only lasted a few days
-Overall: Leave it!

Review: Play! by Sephora April 2016 Box

Play! is a monthly subscription box, from Sephora. Each box costs $10. The box doesn’t get shipped out until the beginning of the 3rd week of each month. Each box contains 6 random beauty products and a booklet featuring each product.

The box contained 6 deluxe sample size items:

2016-04-20 21.54.30

  1. Derek Lam
    10 Crosby 2AM Kiss Perfume

-Has a strong masculine smell
-Smells very similar to CK ONE cologne
-Overall: I’m not a big fan this smell.

2. Nars Stain Lip Pencil

-Shade: Rikugien
-Contains glitter
-Has a glossy finish
-Goes on smooth
-Does transfer
-Lasts about 2-3 hours without eating or drinking
– Overall: The lip pencil is okay, nothing amazing. Also I feel like this shade would of been better for fall or winter.

3. Sephora Colorful Cheek Ink Gel

-Shade: Peony
– Smooth
-Very sheer (took three layers to show up on the skin)
-Leaves a stain
-Doesn’t leave any sticky residue
– Best on bare skin, the gel blush ended up wiping away any foundation and powder I had  underneath during application
-Overall: Not the best blush stain out there, but it’s not bad for a everyday natural look or  for those pool days.

4. Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil

-Vegan, Cruelity free, Made in the USA
-Has a citrus scent, I can really smell the tangerine and orange peel
-Can be applied all over the face and body
-I tried this oil on my hair but the oil is too dense that it weighed my hair down. Also it didn’t make my hair any smoother, softer, or shinier. Instead, it made my hair look greasy.
-It’s a little bit better for the body. It made my skin soft and smooth. But a downfall is that it takes some time for my skin to fully absorb the oil.
-Overall: I didn’t care much for this product since I can just use regular lotion for my body and it’ll do the same thing.

5. Sunday Riley Good Genes

-Claims: Brightens, exfoliates, plump lines, even hyperpigmentation, and increases circulation for instant radiance
-White cream
-Can be used as a serum or a peel/mask
-Has a strong acidic scent (not very fond of)
-Has a slight burning/stinging sensation
-Leaves the skin tacky
-You can feel it on the skin
-Overall: It made my skin brighter after just one use but I really can’t stand the scent and it’s a bit too strong for my sensitive skin. I wouldn’t use it again.

6. Clinque Pep-Start Eye Cream

-Claims: De-puffs the eyes while it brightens and hydrates
-White cream
-Leaves the skin a little tacky
-Overall: It’s not a bad product. It does brighten the under eyes but I personally like the Origins GinZing better because it doesn’t leave the skin feeling tacky. Also I like the refreshing feeling of the GinZing.

This was my first Play! box and I was super excited for it. Especially after seeing what have been in the past few boxes, but unfortunately I was disappointed with this month’s products. None of the products wowed me. I really  wanted to love just one product to make the whole box worth it, sadly I thought the products were only mediocre. Hopefully next month would be better. *fingers crossed*

April 2016 Empties: Love it, Like it, or Leave it

-Has an awful scent to the point it was unbearable
– I didn’t see much difference in my skin
-I honestly think the regular Retinol Brightening Serum is better
-Overall: LEAVE IT!!

2016-04-17 21.01.36

-Help refresh the under eye areas
-Gave some tingling sensation
-Easy to apply
-I don’t have any dark circles to begin with so I didn’t see any difference
-Overall: I still LIKE IT! I like the tingling sensation.

20160406_233749BLISS TRIPLE OXYGEN +C

-Too watery
-It’s not even a cream, it’s just water
-Has a weird scent
-I didn’t see any difference with my skin
-Overall: LEAVE IT!!

-It’s a heavy serum so it’s thicker than regular hair oils
-Leaves the hair greasy
-Weighs down the hair down
-Overall: LEAVE IT! I was very disappointed with this product.

20160417_203225-1.jpgJACK BLACK LIP BALM
-Texture is almost like Vaseline
-Gave off a tingling sensation
-Soften the lips after the first few uses
-But afterwards, the more I used it the drier my lips got
-Overall: LEAVE IT!

20160417_203112-1CK ONE FOUNDATION – SAND (deluxe sample)

-Easy to blend
-Light to medium coverage
-Starts breaking apart after a few hours, especially if you have oily skin
-Overall: LEAVE IT!! Not worth it, I was expecting the foundation to perform a lot better for a high end brand.

-Finely milled
-Goes on smooth
-Smooth out the skin
-Easy to blend
-Light on the skin, doesn’t feel cakey at all
-Can give a white cast if you use a lot
-Overall: LOVE IT! It’s a great finishing/setting powder. It’s even better than the Rimmel Stay Matte setting powder.
-It’s a good Dupe for Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder

-Sponge tip applicator (not a big fan of)
-Tugs on the eyelid
-Not the darkest black liner out there
-Semi buildable, Stops building up after the 3 swipes
-Lasts all day
-Dries out too fast!! Lasts around 1 month to 1 1/2 months
-Overall: LEAVE IT!! The short life span of this liner just kills it for me. All of my other liquid liners last around 3-6 months with continuous use.

April was full of disappointing products but hopefully May will have better products.
