Review: Kiko Milano

Kiko Milano has been very popular on YouTube lately, so while in L.A. I picked up a few items to see what was all the hype about. First off I have to say there’s a huge price range, I found some shadows for only $3 and some for $14!  That’s the same price as Anastasia’s shadows! I didn’t want to spend too much, so I only grabbed a few items just to test try.

First up are the Smooth Temptation lipsticks for about $3 each. They had a sale going on, 5 for $15 for any items in the small bins found in front of the cashiers.  I got the shade 01 (nude) and 05 (muted red).

01 (nude) shade swatched on hand doesn’t seem like a bad color but when on the lips, it’s very unnatural to the point where it made me look dead! Not a flattering color at all.

05 (muted red) swatched nicely and looks pretty good on the lips.

-Twist Up
-Goes on smooth
-Semi-glossy finish
-Becomes more matte and drying throughout the day
– Needs  reapplying or some type of lip balm over or under
– A little uncomfortable on the lips but not unbearable
-Transfers a little
-Leaves a stain
-Lasts about 4/5 hours without reapplying or eating and drinking

(There’s some transferring but nothing too much where all of the lipsticks comes off.)

Second items are the Infinity shadows, which were also on sale for around $3 each.

-Good Pigmentation
-Easy to build
-Starts fading after 4 hours of wear

Lastly I got the High Pigment shadows for $10 each.

-Good Pigmentation
-Little fall out
-Fades after 4/5 hours

Overall: The products aren’t bad. I like the shadows, they are very easy to build up and blend. The lipsticks on the other hand were a miss since it was quite drying on the lips. I do suggest trying out their shadows but only if they’re on sale. The price tag is a little high for what you are getting and they fade rather quickly even with primer on.

Review: TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony

TheBalm just released in March 2016 the squeal to their Meet Matt(e) Nude;  Meet Matt(e) Trimony costing around $41. The packaging is the same as the original Meet Matt(e) Nude, containing 9 shadows, a decent size mirror, and cardboard packaging with a magnetic closure. The palette is sleek and thin making it great for traveling.
But honestly I really wish theBalm would slowly move away from the cheap cardboard packaging. $41 is not cheap, for that price I want a better packaging.

What the packaging looks like.

The shadows are nice and soft, smooth, have good pigmentation, buildable, and easy to blend. The only down fall I have with these is that they kick up a lot of product. Make sure to tap off your brush otherwise you will get a lot of fall out. Also there are two shades that didn’t perform as well as the others, Matt Moskowitz (plum shade with red undertones) and Matt Ahmed (black shade). These weren’t as pigmented and came off a little patchy.

Unfortunately I don’t own the original Meet Matt(e) Nude so I can’t do any comparison swatches. But I’m sure you guys can easily find some images on Google.

Overall:  Is it the best matte eyeshadow palette out there, no but it’s not bad. Is it worth the $41? Most definitely not! Maybe around $30 or less then yes. In the end, the Meet Matt(e) Trimony is not a must have palette. There’s nothing from the palette that wows me, the colors are quite standard. For the price I rather go with Lorac Pro palettes or any Too Faced palettes.

I got mine from Unified Cosmetics:

Hit or Miss: Black Radiance Eye Appeal Palettes

I was at Walgreens when I stumbled upon these palettes from Black Radiance. They look exactly the same as Wet n’ Wild and I knew I had to give these a try. Black Radiance Eye Appeal Shadow Collection palettes goes for $8 ($3 more than the Wet n’ Wild’s ColorIcon palettes). There weren’t many options to choose from: Deeper The Berry, Downtown Browns, & Posh Plums. I ended up grabbing 2 out of the 3 since these has more browns.

-I really like the color selection/arrangements
-Good pigmentation
-Super soft shadows
-Very powdery
-Lots of fallout
-Needs a good primer
-Easy to over blend
-Can look a bit muddy
-Longevity: Okay. The shadows creases very easily without any primer, but with a primer it fades after a few hours.

Overall: These palettes are a miss for me. The shadows are way too powdery for my liking. Even when I gently press my brush into the shadows, I still get powder into the other pans. And not to mention it’s $3 more than Wet n’ Wild! But if you’re a big Wet n’ Wild fan then you will like these palettes. The consistency is very similar.

Review: High-end Mascaras Part I

Trying to find the perfect mascara? Well I’m here to help. These are 17 high-end mascaras that I’ve tried over the past few years. As you’ve noticed these are not the full sizes, but the deluxe sample sizes I’ve gotten in the Sephora Favorites Lash kit or as a free gift.
Please keep in mind that mascaras perform differently on everyone. I have semi long thin lashes, so my perfect mascara would have to give a lot of volume and some length.
** I’ve placed a little heart (💜 ) next to my favorite mascaras **

1.  Bare Minerals Lash Domination
-Full size $19
-Claims: A mascara that does it all. It is volumizing, lengthening, thickening, separating, and long-wearing.
-Spiraled Rubber Wand
-Gives good length
-Decent volume, but not enough in my opinion
-Doesn’t clump
-Easy to apply
-Light weight
-Easy to take off.
-Overall: It’s a good everyday/natural mascara

2. Benefit They’re Real!

-Full size $24
-Claims: Lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. It has a long-wearing formula that won’t smudge or dry out.
-Stiff Rubber wand
-Thin formulation
-Gives little length and volume
-Light weight
-Doesn’t coat evenly, I did notice some small black dots on my lashes
-Very little clumping
-Will need some type of eye makeup remover to remove
-Overall: I honestly think this mascara is over hyped. It doesn’t give enough volume or length for the price tag.

3. Benefit Bad Gal Lash

-Full size $19
-Claims: Volumizing
-Thick standard wand
– Gives volume and a little length
-Clumps lashes once the formulations becomes a little more dry
-Overall: It wasn’t a bad mascara at first but by the end of its lifespand (3 months for the deluxe sample) it became clumpier. It’s not my go to mascara, but hey it might work out great for you.

4. Clinque High Impact 💜
Full size $16.50
-Claims: Instantly volumizes, lengthens, and defines each and every lash.
-Standard Wand
-It gives great volume without clumping
-Lengthen lashes
-Light weight
-Overall: I absolutely love using this mascara alone or paired up with another mascara. It’s cheaper than most mascaras and it actually does what it claims.

5. Dior Addict It-lash
-Full size $27.50
-Claims: An addictive mascara that gives volume and length.
-Flexible rubber wand
-Gives very little length and volume
-Overall: It didn’t do anything for me. I was expecting a lot more since it’s a pricier mascara.

6. It Cosmetics Hello Lashes!
-Full size $24
-Claims: A  5-in-1 Mascara that takes the place of 5 products: 1) A natural volumizing mascara, 2) Acts as a conditioning, hydrating lash primer, 3) Contains lash enhancing serum, 4) A lash tint and 5) A lash comb/curler!
-Flexible Rubber Wand
-Dry Formulation, a lot drier than most
-Doesn’t clump
-Barely does anything for the lashes, adds very little length and hardly any volume
-Overall: This is probably one of the worst mascara I’ve tried. The only way I could get some use out of this is if I use it for my bottom lashes since it doesn’t need much volume or length.

7. Guerlain Maxilash Volumizing and Curling Mascara
-Full size $32
-Claims: A volume-creating and curl-sculpting mascara.
-Standard wand
-Gives good length
-Decent Volume
-Little to no clumping
-Overall: It’s a good mascara for lengthening but not for voluminzing as it claims. But when it comes down to it, the price tag is really high just for a lengthening mascara. There are cheaper mascaras that has the whole package.

8. Laura Geller Glam Lash 💜

– Full size $24
-Claims: A mascara that separates, thickens and lengthens to create larger-than-life lashes.
-Standard Wand
-Gives great volume and length

-Dries out fast
-Overall: I really like this mascara, I will be purchasing the full size once I’ve finished all my other mascaras.

-Claims: A mascara that gives lashes buildable volume without clumping or flaking.
– Has a chemical scent
-Standard wand
– Gives amazing volume and good length
-Doesn’t clump, unless you pack on a lot (after the 4 coats)
-Overall: One of my favorite mascaras. I know it’s a lot pricier than most mascaras but it’s worth it. It’s a mascara I keep going back to.

10. Makeup Forever Smoky Extravagant 💜
-Full size $24
-Claims: A precision mascara that adds volume, length, and curl.
-Big Tapered standard wand
-Gives a lot of length (more than Lancome Hypnose Drama) and  great volume
-Doesn’t clump unless you pack on a lot

-Overall: Another favorite. It’s my go to mascara for going out and for big events.

11. Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara

-Rubber Wand, has a brush on one side and a comb on the other

-Overall: Not a mascara I would purchase.

13. Tarte Gifted

Standard wand

-Rubber wand
-Light Weight formula
-Clumps lashes together just a little
-Gives decent length and volume
-Overall: It’s an okay mascara. I wouldn’t say it gives my lashes 752% more volume, maybe only 3-4 times more. I still prefer my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara since it doesn’t clump my lashes.

15. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 💜
-Full size price $21
-Claims: A lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara
-Standard wand
-Light weight
-Separate lashes
-Great length

-Doesn’t clump
-Gives Amazing volume
-Great Length
